Easiest Way to Plant Corn

Corn needs warm weather, fertile soil, pH 6.0-6.0, and good drainage. Silver Queen, Butter & Sugar, and Early Sunglow are the best corn varieties to grow. When the soil is between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius, it's best to plant corn.

Different corn varieties can be planted to extend the harvesting period. Corn plants mature between 70 and 80 days. Prepare the soil before planting by adding some organic matter or manure to the soil. When corn plants get a little taller, add nitrogen to aid in their growth.

Sow seeds in small rows and space them between 2 and 4 inches. These rows should look like blocks, not a single row. To ensure pollination, you should plant the seeds at least three to four inches apart. Also, make sure to place them at about 1/2-1 inch depth. The corn will start to sprout within a few weeks.

Balanced organic fertilizer should be applied three times per week when the corn plant reaches 10 inches in height. Also, apply it when they reach 18 inches and the tassels begin to appear. You must water your corn plants until they are harvested.

Watering should be slow and evenly distributed. Watering corn should not be done so that the water doesn't fall on its tassels. This will result in the silk falling on the corn's hairs and producing kernels. When the husks turn dark brown and the silky tops begin to dry, you can harvest the corn. The kernels will then be full-sized.
